Do guests need an app to share event photos?
No. Modern event photo platforms run in the phone’s browser — a guest scans a QR code and the page opens, with nothing to install. What varies enormously between platforms is what happens after that page opens, and that is the part worth checking.
Why the question keeps coming up
Because “no app required” is technically true of almost every product in this category and practically misleading in many of them. There is no app, and there is often an account, an email verification, a profile form and a permission prompt. Guests experience that as the same friction the promise seemed to rule out.

Do not ask “is there an app?”. Ask “how many screens between scanning and seeing a photo?” Then walk it yourself on your own phone before the event.
